structural integrity

As per the City of Boston regulations, we must ensure that your "porches" are in good standing. Should the city find that your porch is subpar according to the below requirements, they are mandated to report the matter to the court of law. The City will send an inspector to the porches to do an evaluation on the day of Porchfest. This will not interfere with you or the event itself.

If your porch is not in good standing according to your judgement based off the requirements below, we unfortunately cannot allow your porch to be utilized as a performance venue on the day.

REQUIREMENTS

Verify all guardrails and balusters for normal height and structural integrity; the normal guardrail height for 1& 2 family should be 36 inches and the spacing between balusters 4 inch maximum, and the normal height for a 3 family dwelling cannot be less than 42 inches with the same spacing requirement between balusters as 1 & 2 family.
